Omah Lay Expands Clarity of Mind With Gunna Collaboration

Describe the image

Nigerian Afrobeats star Omah Lay has expanded his sophomore album, Clarity of Mind, with four additional songs, including “Back to Lagos,” a highly anticipated collaboration with American rapper Gunna. The extended edition, titled Clarity of Mind (Extended), increases the project from its original 12 tracks to 16, giving fans fresh music and introducing new international collaborations.

Released on October 30, 2026, the expanded project retains all the songs from the original album while adding four new recordings. The release features Gunna on “Back to Lagos” and French music star Tiakola on “Take.” The other additions are “Keep Going” and “Holy Ghost Fire.”

The new edition is another important development in Omah Lay’s musical journey, bringing together Afrobeats, contemporary hip-hop and international influences.

Gunna Joins Omah Lay on “Back to Lagos”

One of the biggest talking points surrounding the extended album is “Back to Lagos,” which features American rapper Gunna.

The collaboration brings together two artists with different musical backgrounds. Omah Lay contributes his recognisable melodic vocals and emotional delivery, while Gunna adds his smooth rap style to the record.

The song explores themes of fame, ambition, success and personal identity. Its title also places Lagos at the centre of its message, presenting the Nigerian city as a symbol of home, familiarity and belonging.

The production reportedly combines deep bass, atmospheric guitar melodies and haunting vocal textures, creating a reflective sound that supports the song's subject matter.

The collaboration is particularly significant because it connects a leading Nigerian Afrobeats voice with an established American hip-hop performer. It also gives both artists an opportunity to reach listeners across different music markets.

Tiakola Adds a French Connection

Beyond the Gunna collaboration, Omah Lay has also brought French artist Tiakola onto the extended project.

Their song, “Take,” introduces another international musical partnership to the album. Tiakola's melodic approach complements Omah Lay's vocal style, adding a French influence to the expanded collection.

The collaboration further demonstrates Omah Lay's willingness to explore musical connections beyond Nigeria and the traditional Afrobeats audience.

Four New Songs Complete the Extended Album

The four additional tracks appear after the original 12 songs, preserving the album's initial sequence.

“Keep Going” introduces an encouraging message about perseverance, while “Back to Lagos” explores the relationship between success and personal identity.

“Take” provides the international collaboration with Tiakola, and “Holy Ghost Fire” closes the extended edition. The final track is described as a stripped-back reworking of the spiritual direction explored in the original album's “Holy Ghost.”

Together, the additions bring the project to 16 tracks, offering listeners more material without replacing the original recordings.

Continuing the Clarity of Mind Journey

Originally released in April 2026, Clarity of Mind represents an important chapter in Omah Lay's career. The project explores themes of personal development, spirituality, relationships, ambition and the emotional challenges that can accompany success.

The album followed his 2022 debut studio project, Boy Alone, and continued his development as one of Nigeria's internationally recognised contemporary music acts.

The original album also achieved notable chart recognition, with reports highlighting its presence on Billboard's U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart and its performance on the World Albums chart.

The extended edition provides an opportunity to introduce the project to more listeners while giving existing fans additional songs to explore.

What the New Release Means for Afrobeats

Omah Lay's collaboration with Gunna adds to the growing relationship between Afrobeats and international hip-hop. Nigerian artists continue to explore partnerships with musicians from different countries, creating opportunities for cultural exchange and wider musical audiences.

With Tiakola also appearing on the extended album, Omah Lay has brought together Nigerian, American and French musical influences in one project.

Although the long-term commercial performance of the new songs remains to be seen, the expanded album has already attracted attention because of its international features.

For Omah Lay, Clarity of Mind (Extended) is more than an additional collection of songs. It represents another step in the evolution of an album built around self-discovery, ambition and artistic expression.

As listeners explore the four new additions, “Back to Lagos” featuring Gunna is likely to remain one of the project's major talking points.
