Lagos Police Uncover High-Tech Cannabis Farm Inside Residential Property in Apapa, Arrest Two Suspects

The Lagos State Police Command has uncovered a suspected high-tech indoor cannabis farm operating inside a residential property in the Apapa area of Lagos State, leading to the arrest of two suspects, including a 49-year-old Polish national and a 36-year-old Nigerian.

The discovery, which has attracted attention, was made on Monday, November 2, 2026, at approximately 8:15 a.m., following credible intelligence received by police operatives.

According to the Lagos State Police Command, officers acted on the information and conducted a search of the property, where they discovered a sophisticated indoor agricultural facility allegedly designed for the cultivation, harvesting and processing of substances suspected to be cannabis.

The operation has raised concerns about the possibility of illegal drug cultivation taking place within ordinary residential neighbourhoods without attracting immediate attention.

Two Suspects Arrested

The police identified the arrested suspects as Thomas Razvickas, a 49-year-old Polish national, and James Chisome, a 36-year-old Nigerian.

Both men were reportedly residents of the property where the suspected cannabis cultivation facility was discovered.

In a statement released on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Command, SP Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed the arrests and provided details of the operation.

According to the police spokesperson, the suspects were taken into custody following the discovery and were being questioned by investigators.

The police further disclosed that the suspects had made confessional statements and were providing useful information to assist the ongoing investigation.

However, the allegations against the suspects have not yet been determined by a court.

Sophisticated Indoor Cannabis Cultivation Facility Discovered

One of the major aspects of the discovery was the nature of the facility uncovered inside the residential property.

Unlike conventional outdoor cannabis farms, which are usually associated with open land and secluded locations, the facility reportedly operated indoors.

The police described it as a sophisticated farming operation equipped with facilities for cultivating, harvesting and processing substances suspected to be cannabis.

Photographs released following the discovery showed numerous black cultivation containers arranged across the indoor premises, alongside materials believed to be connected to the operation.

Other images showed suspected harvested cannabis products packaged in transparent bags.

The discovery suggests that the facility was equipped to support different stages of indoor cultivation rather than serving merely as a storage location.

Authorities are expected to investigate the equipment, materials and other items recovered from the property to establish the full scale of the operation.

Lagos Police Commissioner Visits the Scene

Following the discovery, the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, CP Tijani Fatai, visited the location to personally inspect the facility and receive updates from officers handling the investigation.

The commissioner reportedly commended the operatives involved in the operation, praising their vigilance and effective use of intelligence.

He reiterated the command’s commitment to tackling drug-related offences, dismantling criminal networks and preventing Lagos State from becoming a safe haven for illegal activities.

The police commissioner also acknowledged the importance of cooperation between law enforcement agencies and members of the public in identifying suspicious activities.

He encouraged residents to continue providing credible information that could assist security agencies in preventing crime and apprehending individuals suspected of engaging in illegal operations.

Growing Concerns Over Illegal Drug Activities in Residential Areas

The discovery has brought renewed attention to concerns about illegal drug-related activities taking place within residential communities.

Residential properties are generally expected to provide safe environments for families, workers and other members of the public.

However, the alleged conversion of a residential building into an indoor cannabis cultivation facility raises questions about how illegal activities can operate within seemingly ordinary neighbourhoods.

The use of indoor farming equipment also highlights how modern cultivation methods can potentially make illegal agricultural operations more difficult to detect without intelligence gathering and proper investigations.

Security experts have repeatedly emphasised the importance of community cooperation in identifying suspicious activities and reporting credible concerns to the appropriate authorities.

The latest development in Apapa demonstrates the importance of intelligence-led policing in uncovering suspected criminal operations that might otherwise remain hidden.

Investigation Continues

The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed that investigations into the discovery are ongoing.

Investigators are expected to establish the full circumstances surrounding the alleged cultivation operation, including how long the facility had been operating and whether other individuals were connected to it.

The authorities may also investigate the possible distribution networks associated with the suspected cannabis farm.

The police have not yet publicly established the full quantity of substances recovered or disclosed all the details surrounding the alleged operation.

The suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue.

The police are also expected to work with relevant authorities, including the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), in handling further investigations and possible prosecution.

Police Urge Residents to Remain Vigilant

The Lagos State Police Command has used the development to encourage residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies.

Residents have been advised to provide timely and credible information that could help authorities identify suspicious activities within their communities.

The command reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining security across Lagos State and taking action against individuals involved in criminal activities.

The discovery of the suspected indoor cannabis farm in Apapa represents another significant development in the state’s efforts to combat drug-related offences.

As investigations continue, authorities will be expected to establish the full extent of the alleged operation and determine whether additional individuals or criminal networks were involved.
