Funke Akindele’s ‘The Four’ Set for Historic UK Premiere in London
Nollywood filmmaker and actress Funke Akindele is preparing for another major career milestone as her forthcoming movie, The Four: No One Fights Alone, gets ready for its United Kingdom premiere at ODEON Luxe Leicester Square in London on November 29, 2026.
Announced on Monday, November 2, the screening is being promoted as the first time a Nollywood film will premiere at the renowned cinema. The 791-seat venue regularly hosts major film events, making the occasion an important moment for Nigerian cinema and its growing international visibility.
Akindele shared the announcement on social media, revealing that Funke Akindele Network and distributor FilmOne Entertainment would bring the production to London. She expressed gratitude for the opportunity and acknowledged the cast, crew and supporters whose efforts helped bring the project to life.
The UK premiere forms part of the film’s promotional campaign ahead of its planned theatrical release. The Four: No One Fights Alone is scheduled to open in cinemas across Nigeria on December 11, 2026. The London event will give members of the Nigerian diaspora and other UK-based film enthusiasts an opportunity to celebrate the production before its domestic cinema debut.
Facebook Partnership Supports Promotion
The announcement follows a promotional partnership between Akindele and Facebook, which is expected to help expand the film’s reach and connect the production with audiences. Reports say the collaboration will provide followers with behind-the-scenes material, premiere preparations, fashion looks, updates and other exclusive content linked to the London and Lagos events.
Akindele directed fans to her Facebook pages, including Funke Akindele, Official Funke Akindele and FAANTV, for updates from the campaign. The partnership reflects the growing role of social media in promoting Nigerian films, encouraging audience participation and helping local productions reach viewers outside the country.
An Ensemble Cast and a Story of Loyalty
The film features a mix of established and emerging performers. Its announced cast includes Richard Mofe-Damijo, Chioma Akpotha, Bisola Aiyeola, Timini Egbuson and Lateef Adedimeji, while singer Waje is also associated with the project. Akindele leads the production, which is being produced under her network and distributed by FilmOne Entertainment.
The story follows Esosa and three women who leave their community for the city as they fight to protect the future of a young man they love. Their journey puts their friendship, courage and loyalty to the test, while exploring themes of resilience, motherhood and solidarity.
The project continues Akindele’s effort to take Nigerian stories to wider audiences, following a run of commercially successful film releases. The London premiere is expected to raise the production’s international profile and generate further attention ahead of its cinema debut.
For the Nigerian film industry, the event could also demonstrate the growing demand for locally produced stories in prestigious international venues.
With the November 29 event approaching, anticipation is building among fans in the United Kingdom and Nigeria. The December 11 release will then bring the film to cinema audiences nationwide, allowing viewers to experience its story on the big screen.
