VeryDarkMan Challenges Pastor David Ibiyeomie Over Claims That Critics He Curses Go Into Non-Existence

Nigerian social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has publicly challenged the founder of Salvation Ministries, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, following a controversial statement in which the cleric claimed that people he curses become useless for life or cease to exist.

VeryDarkMan reacted angrily to a trending video of the popular Nigerian pastor speaking about his alleged spiritual authority to curse individuals who speak against him.

The development has sparked another heated conversation on social media, with Nigerians debating religious authority, freedom of expression, the responsibilities of church leaders and the influence pastors exercise over their followers.

What Pastor David Ibiyeomie Said

The controversy began after a video of Pastor David Ibiyeomie circulated online, showing the cleric making strong statements about people who criticise or attempt to challenge him.

In the viral recording, Ibiyeomie reportedly claimed that anyone who troubles him and receives a curse from him becomes finished or useless for life.

He also challenged social media users to investigate whether people he had previously cursed were still alive and doing well.

According to the pastor:

“Anyone who wants to trouble me, when I curse you, you are finish. Check all the social media, all the people I have cursed whether anyone is existing.”

The cleric further claimed that his prayers could affect individuals occupying political positions, suggesting that those he prayed against could become useless for life.

His remarks quickly attracted attention, particularly because of the strong language used while addressing people who criticise him.

The video subsequently generated discussions about whether religious leaders should make statements that could be interpreted as threats against critics.

VeryDarkMan Fires Back at the Pastor

Reacting to the viral video, VeryDarkMan questioned the pastor’s claims and openly challenged him to identify the social media users he allegedly cursed.

The activist described the pastor’s statement as a lie and argued that some religious leaders use claims of supernatural authority to make ordinary people afraid of questioning them.

In his reaction, VDM said:

“Pastor David Ibiyeomie is a liar. I dare you to call the social media users you claimed to have cursed, who have gone into non-existence.”

He further argued that statements of this nature could make followers believe their religious leaders possess powers that ordinary people cannot question.

According to VeryDarkMan, such claims have contributed to a culture in which some parents and older church members become afraid of speaking against certain pastors because they believe doing so could attract spiritual consequences.

He maintained that religious leaders should not present themselves as individuals who cannot be questioned or criticised.

VDM Challenges Ibiyeomie to Curse Him

One of the most controversial parts of VeryDarkMan’s reaction was his direct challenge to the pastor.

Rather than simply criticising the statement, the activist openly dared Ibiyeomie to direct the alleged curse against him.

He declared:

“I dare you to pray against me. I want to go into non-existence.”

The statement has become a major talking point because of the direct confrontation between the social media activist and the influential Nigerian cleric.

VDM’s challenge appeared intended to question the pastor’s assertion that people who receive his curses eventually experience devastating consequences.

He also questioned why some religious leaders would speak about cursing critics when the Bible contains teachings encouraging believers to bless those who persecute them.

The activist referenced Christian teachings about blessing rather than cursing people, arguing that pastors should demonstrate the values they preach to their congregations.

VDM Questions the Influence of Religious Leaders

Beyond his direct challenge to Ibiyeomie, VeryDarkMan used the opportunity to discuss what he considers a wider problem within some religious communities.

He argued that certain pastors make statements that encourage followers to view them as supernatural personalities whose words can determine the future of other people.

According to VDM, this can create fear among church members, particularly older people who may believe that questioning a pastor could expose them and their families to spiritual attacks.

He suggested that religious leaders should not use their positions to discourage people from asking questions or expressing disagreement.

His comments have once again placed him at the centre of discussions surrounding religious accountability in Nigeria.

However, it is important to distinguish VDM’s accusations from independently established facts. His comments represent his personal interpretation of the pastor’s remarks.

Another Chapter in VDM’s Previous Disagreements With Pastors

The latest confrontation is not the first time VeryDarkMan has publicly criticised Pastor David Ibiyeomie.

In previous controversies, the activist questioned some of the pastor’s sermons and public statements, particularly those he considered controversial or inconsistent with biblical teachings.

In June 2025, VDM was also involved in discussions surrounding Pastor Ibiyeomie after the cleric reportedly warned bloggers against publishing negative reports about him and threatened legal action against critics.

The disagreement attracted attention from Nigerians, including lawyer and human rights activist Deji Adeyanju, who criticised the pastor’s reported comments about arresting people who wrote negatively about him.

The recurring disagreements demonstrate the ongoing tension between VeryDarkMan’s style of public criticism and the responses of some influential religious figures.

VDM has consistently maintained that religious leaders should be open to scrutiny, especially when their statements and activities become subjects of public discussion.

Nigerians Debate the Controversy

Following the circulation of the pastor’s statement and VDM’s response, social media users began expressing different opinions.

Some Nigerians supported VeryDarkMan, arguing that religious leaders should not make statements that could frighten people who disagree with them.

Others questioned the activist’s approach, insisting that he should be more respectful when addressing respected religious figures.

There are also people who believe that spiritual matters should not be turned into public confrontations and that disagreements between religious leaders and critics should be handled carefully.

The controversy has therefore created two major conversations: whether religious leaders should be questioned publicly and whether social media activists should exercise restraint when criticising religious personalities.

For many Nigerians, the issue goes beyond the personalities involved. It raises questions about the relationship between religious authority, personal beliefs and freedom of expression.

What Happens Next?

As the controversy continues to attract attention, Nigerians will be watching to see whether Pastor David Ibiyeomie responds to VeryDarkMan’s latest challenge.

For now, the public discussion remains centred on the pastor’s claims about cursing critics and VDM’s demand for evidence that the individuals allegedly affected by such curses have disappeared or become useless.

Neither the alleged supernatural consequences nor the pastor’s claims about the people he previously cursed have been independently established.

The situation also highlights the importance of responsible communication, particularly when influential religious personalities address large audiences.

Whether the disagreement will end with a response from the pastor or develop into another public confrontation remains to be seen.
