Kaduna Igbo Community Endorses Uba Sani for Second Term, Receives ₦20 Million and Brand-New Bus
Uba Sani Gets Another Endorsement Ahead of 2027 as Kaduna Igbo Community Receives ₦20m and New Bus.

The Igbo community in Kaduna State has reportedly endorsed Governor Uba Sani for a second term in office ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The endorsement was announced during the community’s 2026 Igbo Cultural Day celebration, which brought together Igbo traditional leaders, community representatives, political stakeholders and other dignitaries in Kaduna State.
The event, held at the Nigerian Correctional Service Staff College in Barnawa, Kaduna, on Saturday, November 1, 2026, also featured the presentation of a brand-new bus and ₦20 million to the Igbo community.
Governor Uba Sani was represented at the occasion by Comrade Jerry Adams, the All Progressives Congress (APC) deputy governorship candidate in Kaduna State.
The endorsement represents another political development ahead of the 2027 governorship election, as political activities and consultations continue to gather momentum across the state.
Why the Igbo Community Endorsed Uba Sani
Speaking during the celebration, the President-General of the Igbo Community Welfare Association in Kaduna State, Chief Walter Chukwuma-Temple, explained that the community’s decision was influenced by what it described as the governor’s inclusive leadership approach and his administration’s relationship with the Igbo population.
According to the community leader, Governor Sani has demonstrated a willingness to accommodate residents from different ethnic and religious backgrounds.
He also commended the administration for promoting peaceful coexistence and recognising the contributions of different communities to Kaduna State.
Temple expressed appreciation for the relationship between the government and the Igbo community, stressing that the association was interested in maintaining the existing cordial relationship.
He reaffirmed the community’s commitment to supporting the administration, while appreciating the governor for recognising the role played by the Igbo population in the state’s development.
The endorsement comes as political stakeholders begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 electoral contest.
Governor Donates ₦20 Million and a Brand-New Bus
One of the major highlights of the cultural celebration was the donation of ₦20 million and a brand-new bus to the Igbo Community Welfare Association.
The donation was made on behalf of Governor Uba Sani, who was represented by Jerry Adams.
The latest contribution is also connected to an earlier promise made to the association in 2024.
During his remarks, the governor recalled his previous relationship with the Igbo community, explaining that his support for the association started before he became governor.
He revealed that he donated a Nissan Serena bus to the community in 2019 when he was the APC senatorial candidate for Kaduna Central.
The governor noted that the latest donation was another demonstration of his administration’s commitment to strengthening its relationship with the community.
The donation attracted attention during the celebration, particularly because the association had previously benefited from similar support.
Uba Sani Recognises Igbo Contributions to Kaduna’s Development
In his message to the gathering, Governor Uba Sani described Kaduna State as a home for people from different ethnic, religious and cultural backgrounds.
He acknowledged the contributions of the Igbo community to the state’s economic activities, particularly in trade, commerce, professional services, entrepreneurship and job creation.
According to the governor, members of the community have invested in Kaduna and contributed to its economic development.
He appreciated their continued presence in the state and encouraged them to remain committed to its growth.
Sani also spoke about his administration’s approach to appointments and development projects.
He maintained that people from different ethnic and religious backgrounds had been appointed to positions of responsibility within his government.
He further stated that development projects were being distributed across communities without discrimination.
Among the projects he mentioned were completed and ongoing road developments, including the Television Garage-Ungwar-Sunday and Karatudu road projects.
According to him, the projects are intended to improve connectivity and make it easier for residents to access markets and other economic opportunities.
Governor Responds to the Second-Term Endorsement
Reacting to the endorsement, Governor Sani expressed appreciation to the Igbo community for its confidence in his administration.
However, he also reminded the community that political support comes with responsibility.
In his remarks, he stated:
“Your endorsement is not a favour, but a responsibility to keep earning your confidence through service.”
The statement highlights the governor’s response to the community’s declaration of support ahead of the 2027 election.
He also encouraged members of the Igbo community and their families to register, collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and participate in the electoral process.
His message placed emphasis on voter participation as the country approaches another general election.
Jerry Adams Receives Traditional Igbo Title
Another significant moment during the celebration was the conferment of the traditional title of “Ugomba Ndigbo,” Kaduna, on Comrade Jerry Adams.
Adams, who attended the event as the APC deputy governorship candidate, received the title during the cultural celebration.
The ceremony was anchored by the chairman of the occasion, Barrister Charles Obiekwe.
Adams also used the opportunity to address political developments surrounding the 2027 governorship election.
He appealed to Senator Danjuma La’ah, the Nigeria Democratic Congress governorship candidate who was also present at the gathering, to return to the APC ahead of the election.
He assured the former senator that he would be welcomed back into the party.
The appeal added another political dimension to an event that was primarily organised to celebrate Igbo culture and strengthen community relationships.
Igbo Community Highlights Its Activities and Future Plans
Beyond politics, Chief Walter Chukwuma-Temple highlighted some of the activities carried out by the association.
He mentioned a free medical outreach organised in September, the 2026 Unity Football Competition and the establishment of a peace and reconciliation committee.
The committee was reportedly established to address disagreements among members and promote unity within the association.
He also disclosed that the association had commenced a review of its constitution.
Another major plan involves the establishment of an Igbo Leaders Assembly, which is expected to bring together Igbo leaders from the 19 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory.
The proposed assembly is intended to provide a platform for greater coordination and engagement among Igbo leaders across Northern Nigeria.
Temple also appealed for financial assistance towards the construction of a permanent secretariat for the association.
He described the proposed secretariat as important to the effective administration and long-term development of the organisation.
What the Endorsement Means Ahead of the 2027 Election
The endorsement by the Kaduna Igbo community adds to the political conversations surrounding the 2027 governorship election.
It also highlights the importance of community associations and ethnic organisations in political engagement.
However, the endorsement should be understood as the position announced by the Igbo Community Welfare Association at the event, rather than an indication that every Igbo resident in Kaduna State shares the same political preference.
The 2027 election will provide an opportunity for eligible voters across the state to independently decide who they want to lead them.
For now, the endorsement, the ₦20 million donation and the presentation of a new bus have placed the Igbo Cultural Day celebration at the centre of political discussions in Kaduna.
As the election approaches, attention will remain on political alliances, community engagement, campaign activities and the issues candidates present to voters.
The event ended with cultural displays and renewed expressions of the relationship between the Igbo community and the Kaduna State Government
