Uba Sani Says Kaduna Should Not Give Tinubu Less Than 75% in 2027 Election
Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani says President Bola Tinubu deserves overwhelming support in the 2027 presidential election, citing federal government projects and interventions in the state.

Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) should aim for overwhelming support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Kaduna State during the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking during the APC presidential campaign flag-off rally in Kaduna on October 24, Sani said the party should not be satisfied with securing 70 per cent of the votes, arguing that allowing an opposition candidate to obtain even 25 per cent would represent a failure on the party’s part.
“In Kaduna, we’re not talking about 70%. Allowing any candidate to get even 25% would be a failure on our side because President Tinubu has done for us what we never dreamt of having,” the governor said.
His remarks highlighted the APC leadership’s confidence in Tinubu’s chances in Kaduna and the party’s intention to mobilise substantial support ahead of the 2027 general election. (Abc News Nigeria)
Why Uba Sani Is Backing Tinubu
During the campaign rally, Sani praised the Tinubu administration for what he described as significant interventions in Kaduna State and other parts of northern Nigeria.
He highlighted infrastructure development, security operations, education, healthcare and human capital development as areas where he believes the federal government has made progress.
According to reports, the governor referred to the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari road project, which he said was among the major commitments Tinubu made during his 2022 campaign visit to the state.
Sani also credited the federal government with supporting efforts to improve security in areas previously affected by banditry and other criminal activities.
He said improved security had helped facilitate the reopening of schools and primary healthcare centres that were previously shut because of insecurity.
The governor’s comments formed part of his broader argument that voters should assess the president based on his administration’s performance rather than political or regional considerations. (Premium Times Nigeria)
Infrastructure and Education Feature in Campaign Message
Sani also pointed to road construction and proposed rail development as examples of federal investment in Kaduna.
He referenced the Kaduna-Abuja-Kano road project and the proposed Kaduna metropolitan rail line, which he said could improve transportation and support economic activities.
Education was another important part of his argument. The governor highlighted federal student financing and technical and vocational education programmes, saying such initiatives could help young Nigerians access educational opportunities and develop practical skills.
These claims were presented as reasons for Kaduna residents to consider supporting Tinubu’s re-election bid. The projects’ progress, funding and eventual benefits remain important issues for voters to assess independently.
Opposition and Voters Remain Part of the Election Debate
The governor’s remarks come as political parties begin preparing for the 2027 presidential election.
Although Sani expressed confidence in the APC’s ability to dominate Kaduna, the actual level of support for Tinubu will be determined by voters at the ballot box.
Political competition in Nigeria involves several factors, including the performance of incumbent administrations, economic conditions, security, public services and the credibility of opposition candidates.
Tinubu’s administration has introduced major economic reforms, including the removal of the petrol subsidy and changes to foreign-exchange policy. While the government has pointed to improvements in public finances and investor confidence, the reforms have also contributed to significant cost-of-living pressures for many Nigerians. (Reuters)
These economic conditions are likely to remain part of the wider debate as political parties seek public support.
Conclusion
Governor Uba Sani’s declaration that allowing an opposition candidate to secure 25 per cent of the vote in Kaduna would constitute a failure underscores the APC’s ambitious electoral expectations for the state.
His argument rests on what he describes as Tinubu’s contributions to infrastructure, security, education and development.
However, campaign statements represent political positions rather than election results. Whether the APC can achieve its stated target will depend on voter choices, the competing parties’ campaigns and developments between now and the 2027 election.
