Toyin Abraham Unveils Teaser for New Movie Bestie Ahead of December Cinema Release

Describe the image

Nollywood actress and filmmaker Toyin Abraham has released the official teaser for her upcoming movie, Bestie, giving fans an early glimpse of what to expect from the highly anticipated production.

The actress shared the promotional video on her Instagram page on Tuesday, November 3, describing it as more than just a teaser. In her words, “They call it a TEASER, WE call it a TIP!” She went on to promise audiences a film filled with drama, chaos, emotions, comedy and relatable real-life situations, alongside lessons viewers would remember.

The teaser marks another important stage in the promotional campaign for the movie, which is scheduled to open in cinemas nationwide on December 16, 2026. Abraham has also announced that advance ticket sales are available, encouraging movie lovers to book their seats ahead of the release.

A story built around friendship, emotions and real-life experiences

Although the filmmaker has not fully revealed the storyline, the promotional campaign suggests that Bestie will explore relationships, friendship and the complicated situations that can emerge in everyday life.

Abraham's description points towards a production that combines humour with emotional storytelling. The promise of drama, chaos and unexpected situations suggests that the film will not rely on comedy alone, but will also explore experiences that audiences may recognise from their own relationships and social circles.

The title itself places friendship at the centre of audience curiosity. However, the complete plot and the specific challenges faced by the characters have not yet been fully disclosed.

This gradual release of information has allowed the filmmaker to build anticipation while keeping important parts of the story under wraps.

A cast featuring established Nollywood stars and new faces

One of the major attractions surrounding Bestie is its cast, which includes respected veterans and younger entertainers.

Veteran actors Pete Edochie and Sola Sobowale have been announced as part of the production. Edochie plays Papa Ngozi, while Sobowale takes on the role of Mama Ngozi.

Other announced cast members include Maurice Sam as Peter, BBNaija Season 10 winner Imisi as Suzy Baby, Yakubu Mohammed as Hassan and comedian-actress Lizzy Jay as Kaffy. Singer and rapper Reminisce is also among the cast, playing Kazeem.

The combination of familiar screen personalities and entertainers with different fan bases could help the film attract a broad cinema audience. It also gives viewers an opportunity to see performers from different entertainment backgrounds share the same production.

Toyin Abraham builds on the success of Oversabi Aunty

The new project comes after the strong box-office performance of Abraham's 2025 film, Oversabi Aunty. The movie crossed the ₦1 billion mark in Nigerian cinemas, becoming a major commercial milestone for the actress and filmmaker.

The success strengthened expectations surrounding her next cinema project, particularly as she has developed a reputation for releasing films during Nigeria's busy festive-season period.

Her previous December releases include Ijakumo: The Born Again Stripper in 2022, Malaika in 2023 and Alakada: Bad and Boujee in 2024. Bestie continues that pattern, arriving when many Nigerians are looking for films to enjoy with friends and family during the holiday season.

A competitive December cinema season

Bestie will enter cinemas during a particularly busy period for Nollywood releases. Fellow filmmaker Funke Akindele's The Four: No One Fights Alone is scheduled to arrive on December 11, just five days before Abraham's film.

The close release dates mean both productions will be competing for audience attention during the festive cinema season. Their performances will be watched by industry observers as Nigerian filmmakers continue to attract audiences with locally produced stories and major theatrical releases.

With the teaser now available and advance bookings underway, Abraham is encouraging fans to prepare for the film's arrival. The full storyline remains under wraps, but the announced cast and promise of comedy, drama and emotional storytelling have given audiences several reasons to look forward to its release.

For now, the countdown to December 16 has begun, as Bestie prepares to bring another Toyin Abraham production to the big screen.
