Kaduna Commissioner Targets One Million Women to Support Tinubu, Uba Sani in 2027

The Kaduna State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Sadiq Mamman Lagos, has announced plans to mobilise more than one million women across the state to support the re-election bids of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The commissioner made the declaration on Thursday, November 5, 2026, while speaking with journalists after a meeting with women’s groups in Kaduna.

He described women as an important voting bloc whose participation could significantly influence the outcome of the forthcoming elections.

According to him, the mobilisation initiative is aimed at encouraging women across the state’s 23 local government areas to participate actively in the electoral process and support candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The announcement comes as political activities and mobilisation efforts continue to gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Commissioner Says Women Will Play Important Role in 2027 Elections

Mamman Lagos said women remained an important part of the political process and that their participation would be critical to the APC’s electoral ambitions in Kaduna State.

He explained that the mobilisation effort would focus on reaching women across different communities and encouraging them to participate in political activities ahead of the elections.

The commissioner also linked his support for the re-election bids of Tinubu and Uba Sani to what he described as empowerment programmes and development initiatives being implemented by the two administrations.

He maintained that government policies aimed at improving women’s economic opportunities could encourage greater political participation.

According to him, the state government’s programmes have created opportunities for women to improve their livelihoods, making it important for beneficiaries and other residents to assess the administration’s performance ahead of the next election.

However, the one-million-woman figure represents a mobilisation target announced by the commissioner and should not be interpreted as an established number of registered voters or confirmed supporters.

Operation Tsapta Cited as Major Women’s Empowerment Initiative

One of the programmes highlighted by the commissioner was Operation Tsapta, which he described as an important initiative for improving women’s economic participation in Kaduna State.

Mamman Lagos claimed that more than 8,000 women had secured employment through the programme and were earning salaries that had helped improve their livelihoods.

He argued that economic empowerment remained an important factor in encouraging women to participate more actively in governance and public affairs.

The commissioner maintained that initiatives providing employment and financial opportunities could strengthen women’s ability to contribute to their families and communities.

He also expressed confidence that the government’s empowerment programmes and other development projects would help attract support for the APC during the 2027 elections.

The employment figure was presented as a claim by the commissioner; independent details on the programme’s full beneficiaries and employment records were not provided in the reports.

Women’s Group Expresses Support for Tinubu and Uba Sani

Also speaking during the meeting, the Chairperson of Operation Tsapta in Kaduna State, Hajia Aisha Umar, said women across the state were prepared to mobilise support for Tinubu and Uba Sani.

She described Mamman Lagos as an advocate of women’s participation in governance, pointing to government appointments and empowerment initiatives as examples of opportunities available to women under the current administration.

Umar said women were preparing to organise mobilisation activities and encourage voters to support APC candidates at polling units during the 2027 general elections.

She maintained that women’s participation would be important in determining the party’s performance across the state.

Her comments reflected the growing involvement of organised women’s groups in political activities ahead of the next election.

Political parties and support organisations have increasingly recognised the importance of women in grassroots mobilisation, voter education and election campaigns.

Group Responds to Criticism of Tinubu’s Re-election Bid

Umar also addressed criticism of President Tinubu’s re-election ambition by some individuals in northern Nigeria.

She argued that negative comments circulating on social media did not necessarily represent the opinions of voters at the grassroots.

According to her, political discussions online should not automatically be treated as an accurate reflection of public opinion across communities.

She maintained that election outcomes were determined by votes cast at polling units rather than arguments and disagreements on social media platforms.

Umar therefore encouraged women in Kaduna State to remain united and continue their mobilisation activities ahead of the elections.

Her remarks highlight the importance political organisations attach to grassroots engagement as campaigns gradually develop.

Tinubu and Uba Sani Face 2027 Re-election Battles

The mobilisation announcement comes as President Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani prepare for their respective re-election contests in 2027.

Tinubu is seeking another presidential term after taking office in May 2023, following his victory in the 2023 general election.

His administration has introduced major economic reforms, including the removal of the petrol subsidy and changes to foreign exchange management.

While the government has defended the reforms as necessary for improving public finances and strengthening the economy, Nigerians continue to face concerns about living costs, inflation and the affordability of basic necessities.

These economic issues are expected to remain important subjects during the 2027 election campaigns.

Governor Uba Sani, who assumed office in May 2023, is also expected to face voters as he seeks another term in Kaduna State.

His administration has highlighted investments in infrastructure, education, agriculture and efforts to address security challenges.

However, insecurity remains a major concern in several parts of Kaduna State, particularly in communities affected by kidnapping and armed attacks.

The performance of both administrations is likely to feature prominently in political discussions as voters assess their records ahead of the elections.

Political Mobilisation Intensifies Across Kaduna

The commissioner’s one-million-woman target is part of wider political mobilisation efforts taking place across Kaduna State ahead of 2027.

Several political support groups have already announced plans to mobilise voters for Tinubu and Uba Sani.

In October 2026, the Aminiya Movement for Uba Sani and Tinubu announced a target of 1.2 million votes for the two APC leaders.

The movement’s coordinator, Abdulmumini Aminu-Zaria, said the group intended to mobilise support across the state, citing what it described as achievements in security, education, agriculture and infrastructure.

Other political organisations have also announced initiatives designed to encourage support for the president and governor.

These developments indicate that political organisations are beginning to organise their structures and strengthen their grassroots presence months before the 2027 elections.

For the APC, women-focused mobilisation could become an important part of its campaign strategy, particularly in communities where women’s groups play influential roles in local political activities.

What the One-Million-Woman Target Means

The commissioner’s announcement highlights the growing attention being given to women as an important part of Nigeria’s electoral process.

Women represent a substantial portion of the country’s voting population and participate in elections as voters, campaign organisers, party members, candidates and community mobilisers.

Their involvement can influence political discussions and help parties establish stronger connections with communities.

However, achieving a target of one million women will require extensive organisation across Kaduna’s 23 local government areas.

It will also depend on the ability of the mobilisation structure to reach eligible voters, encourage participation and translate political support into actual votes during the election.

The announcement does not establish how many women have already joined the initiative or how the proposed mobilisation target will be measured.

As political activities continue ahead of 2027, attention will remain on whether the commissioner and participating women’s organisations can achieve their stated target.

For now, the announcement signals another effort by APC supporters in Kaduna to strengthen their grassroots political structures ahead of the next general elections.
