Broda Shaggi Breaks Silence: How a Stray Bullet Nearly Cost Him His Leg and His Life

Broda Shaggi Breaks Silence on Stray Bullet Ordeal, Calls Recovery a “Second Chance”

After months of silence and absence from social media, popular comedian, actor and performer Samuel Animashaun Perry, widely known as Broda Shaggi, has finally revealed the painful reason behind his disappearance from the public eye: he was shot.

A Stray Bullet on the Way Home

On March 9, 2026, Shaggi was hit by a stray bullet while returning from a brand activation in Sango-Ota, Ogun State. What should have been an ordinary journey home from a work engagement turned into a life-threatening emergency.

Fighting for his Life while Fans Asked Questions

As fans took to social media with countless questions about where he had gone and why he had gone quiet, Shaggi was in hospital fighting for his life. After receiving first aid treatment, he was transferred to a different hospital because the first facility lacked the equipment needed to treat him. His first surgery took place in Lagos State, Nigeria.

The ordeal came with intense pain and fear. Shaggi was afraid of losing not only his leg but also his life. For an entertainer who grew up dancing and has been involved in many outdoor activities, the thought of living without a leg would have been deeply traumatic.

Rest, Writing and a Helpless Season

Despite the fear, Shaggi chose to treat the situation as an opportunity to rest, having been constantly busy since he began his career. His manager, Olufemi Oguntamu, said it was the first time he had seen “Shaggi being helpless.” Unable to act or dance in his condition, the performer returned to writing skits, keeping his creative work going despite his physical limits.

Hip Replacement Surgery in Dubai

After four months, Shaggi was taken to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, for another operation, a hip replacement surgery. Dr. Anil Kumar Chinta, who was in charge of his case, told him that the markers were not regulated but that he could still go ahead with the procedure.

Three weeks after the surgery, Shaggi was able to stand with the support of crutches. His willpower to heal and stay alive sped up the recovery process, and in no time he was walking again with minimal pain.
